Shreveport Police have arrested a man on domestic violence charges. 49-year-old Eric Hayes is accused of attacking a woman leaving her with life-threatening injuries.


Officers were called to a home on Milam Street where they found the victim suffering from a severe laceration to her arm. The victim told police she and her husband,Eric Hayes had gotten into a verbal argument that escalated. He allegedly threw a glass vase at her. The vase shattered and cut her arm. She was transported to University Health Hospital with what was described as life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Violent Crimes Bureau responded to the scene and began gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. Hayes fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. Crime Scene investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.

Hayes was taken into custody by patrol officers. Following interviews with investigators, he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
