Earlier this week Shreveport Police were called to Illinois Avenue for a domestic violence incident.

When SPD showed up they found a woman suffering from brutal injuries that were later deemed life-threatening. The woman was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. SPD immediately started an investigation and found out that the woman had been beaten with a rubber mallet, and had a glass vase broken over her head.

Detectives with SPD were able to find out that Damian Johnson was the one responsible for the gruesome attack. Police put a warrant out on Johnson for domestic abuse battery with intentional serious bodily injury with a weapon.

Later that same day SPD found and arrested Johnson. While he was being arrested Police ran background on Johnson and found out that he had a warrant out of Georgia and an indictment warrant for a 2023 Shreveport homicide.

Johnson is being held on these charges:

· Domestic abuse battery with intentional serious bodily injury with a weapon

· Second-degree murder

· Fugitive charge (Georgia)

The woman is expected to survive the domestic incident.

From SPD:

"Further details regarding the murder charge will be released as they become available, as the indictment was issued by the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office."
