Stephanie Sicard with the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association said:
"Our next superintendent should be a local candidate who has served at all levels in the education system. He or she will be familiar with the specific needs of our community, the Louisiana political scene, and have a personal stake in the future of education in our parish."
The Board is expected to start the interviews next month. The goal is to have a new leader in place by November.
Interim Superintendent Leisa Woolfolk will serve until a new leader is in place.
Earlier this summer Board President Jessica Yeates said:
“It’s our commitment to not only make sure we are engaged as the Board but that the community’s voice is heard, and we conduct this process with integrity and transparency.”
