The Shreveport Police Department arrested a 34-year-old woman Saturday evening following an altercation outside an East Kings Highway business. Officers responded to reports of an assault at Sushikin Grill and Sake Bar after receiving notification that a victim was bleeding from the head.

Upon arrival, authorities located Mandy Lindsey sitting inside a Mercedes-Benz at the scene. Responding officers reported that Lindsey displayed erratic behavior, and signs consistent with intoxication.

Argument Escalates to Aggravated Battery

Investigators determined the altercation began when the victim confronted Lindsey regarding her reckless driving inside the parking lot. The verbal argument quickly escalated, resulting in Lindsey allegedly striking the man in the head with a cellular phone.

The victim transported himself to Willis-Knighton Pierremont Health Center for medical treatment. Medical personnel reportedly used six stitches to repair the cut on the victim's head.

Suspect Faces Multiple Charges

At least two independent witnesses came forward to confirm the details of the altercation to detectives. Stating that they saw that Lindsey initiated the physical conflict, and used the phone as a weapon against the victim.

While in custody, Lindsey refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample which meant she was going to have to be detained in an attempt to get the results. Lindsey was subsequently transported to the Selective Enforcement Unit for specialized DWI testing.

On her way to the specialized unit for testing, she allegedly maneuvered her handcuffs from behind her back, to the front of her body. This action during transport, resulted in an additional Simple Escape charge to be added alongside DWI, and Aggravated Battery Offenses.
