Officers determined that neither Parker nor James actually lived at or owned the property and had been unlawfully occupying it. Authorities also confirmed that the residence lacked essential utilities, with water service having been inactive since 2019.

As a result of their unauthorized occupation of an uninhabitable property without utilities, Parker and James were arrested without incident. The arrests were made under the City of Shreveport's recently enacted anti-squatting ordinance, Section 38-11 R.3.

The Shreveport Police Department emphasized its ongoing commitment to addressing quality-of-life issues and ensuring the safety and integrity of Shreveport's neighborhoods.

The Shreveport Police Department released a statement saying that they remain committed to addressing quality-of-life concerns and maintaining the safety and integrity of our neighborhoods.
