
What Parts of Shreveport Are No Longer in Mike Johnson’s District?
SHREVEPORT, LA - Thousands of voters in Shreveport might be getting a shock when they go to the polls this fall to find out they no longer live in House Speaker Mike Johnson's Congressional District.

The new map that is in place for Louisiana this year creates a 2nd black majority district. This new district stretches all the way from Baton Rouge into north Shreveport. This new district 6 is drawing a list of candidates who hope to get the win. District 6 is currently represented by Garret Graves out of Baton Rouge. Graves has announced he will not run for re-election.
What Parts of Shreveport Are in the New District 6?
This new lines include several big neighborhoods in Shreveport. Stoner Hill, the Martin Luther King Drive area, Cedar Grove, Mooretown, Southern Hills, Western Hills, Allendale, Queensborough and even downtown Shreveport are in the new district.
Who's Planning to Run for the District 6 Seat?
So far, at least 3 candidates have expressed an interest in running for the new congressional seat. The names on this list, so far are:
Elbert Guillory, a Republican and former state lawmaker from Opelousas.
State Senator Cleo Fields, a Baton Rouge Democrat who previously served in Congress during the mid-1990s.
Political newcomer Quentin Anthony Anderson, also a Democrat from Baton Rouge.
Political Activist Gary Chambers is also said to be considering the race.

Guillory tells KEEL News he does not expect these district lines to hold up past one election cycle. He thinks these lines will ultimately be ruled unconstitutional and new "more sensible" lines will have to be drawn.
