Shreveport Man Arrested for Vandalizing the Caddo Courthouse

Shreveport Police Department have charged a man in connection with vandalism that damaged multiple windows at Shreveport City Court.

SPD detectives were assigned to investigate property damage that occurred overnight at Shreveport City Court. Security footage showed an unknown male walking along the side of the courthouse. The suspect was seen throwing large rocks at the building’s windows, breaking three windows and causing an estimated $1,500 in damages.

Detectives found out that the same man was also believed to be involved in a separate vandalism incident at the District Courthouse that occurred the same night. Security footage from multiple downtown businesses showed the suspect vandalizing the District Courthouse before walking to Shreveport City Court. The suspect’s distinct gait and clothing were noted, and SPD requested assistance from the public in identifying him.

Earlier this week, SPD was called about a separate recent vandalism incident at the District Courthouse. Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office advised that a suspect had been arrested in connection with that incident after being recognized inside the clerk’s office. The suspect was identified as Samuel Parks.

Detectives reviewed recent body-camera footage from prior interactions involving Parks. During a March arrest, Parks was observed wearing clothing consistent with the suspect seen in the City Court vandalism footage. Detectives also noted that Parks had the same distinctive limp seen in surveillance footage.

As a result of the investigation, an additional affidavit was submitted to the Caddo Correctional Center charging Parks with Simple Criminal Property Damage. He is accused of intentionally damaging Shreveport City Court property without consent.
