Shreveport Man Arrested in Domestic Shooting Case
Shreveport Police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance that involved the discharge of a firearm.
Earlier this week, Shreveport Police officers responded to Josey Circle in reference to a domestic incident. The caller reported that her husband was waving a firearm and that she felt unsafe.
While SPD were responding, dispatch told Officers that the man had reportedly shot the firearm.
Officers arrived on scene and approached the home with caution. The suspect, identified as Carl Woods Jr., was found inside the home and was arrested without further incident.
Officers recovered a gun from a bedroom inside the home. After being advised of his rights, Woods told SPD the firearm was the one he had used and stated that he fired into bushes outside the residence because he believed he saw someone there. Although Woods told Police he only shot the gun once, Officers saw several spent shell casings inside the revolver.
Woods also appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and may have been hallucinating at the time of the incident.
Woods was arrested and charged with Illegal Use of Weapons.
