Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Lewd Act in a Local Business
The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a man on one count of Obscenity following an incident at a retail store on Youree Drive.
Over the weekend, Shreveport Police responded to Pop Shelf on Youree Drive, after employees reported a man committing indecent exposure inside the store.
According to the investigation, Ledarion Barrett entered the store carrying an empty gift bag and told an employee he was shopping for a birthday present for his niece. Store personnel quickly became suspicious after observing his unusual behavior. An employee told SPD they saw Barrett exposing himself and engaging in a lewd act while attempting to conceal what he was doing behind the gift bag.
The whole thing was captured on the store's surveillance system, and the employee immediately ordered Barrett to leave the business. Two juvenile girls were also inside the store at the time, although it is unclear if they saw what was happening.
Responding officers searched the surrounding area and located Barrett nearby in the parking lot of a neighboring business. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Barrett admitted to both exposing himself and committing the act inside the store.
From SPD:
Barrett was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Obscenity.
