Escaped Inmate Treveon Jackson Captured in Marshall After Week-long Manhunt
The hunt for a jail escapee from Shreveport is over. Tre'veon Jackson has been captured in Marshall, Texas.
Jackson escaped from a Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office deputy while being transported from Oschner/ LSU Health Shreveport more than a week ago. There has been an intense search for him since the escape.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force arrested Jackson in east Texas Tuesday night.
Brian Barber, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Louisiana tells KEEL News Jackson offered no resistance. He was arrested at about 9pm on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. addressed concerns about the protocol and he took full responsibility for the security failures.
“A second deputy should have been assigned to the transporting of Tre’vion Jackson,” Whitehorn said. He also says policy will be put in place to tighten security while transporting dangerous inmates or inmates who have a history of trying to escape.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office thanks the U.S. Marshals Service and all law enforcement agencies involved for their efforts during the search and apprehension. The Sheriff's Office also appreciates the public and media for swiftly disseminating Jackson's description and information.
