Poll: Who Is Your Top Pick for Mayor of Shreveport?
Even though the election is not until November 8, 2022, lots of locals are already starting to talk about the mayor's race in Shreveport.
Incumbent Adrian Perkins has already announced he is running for re-election. Analyst Scott Hughes says that early entry is likely an effort to clear the field and put people on notice that he is running. Republican Jim Taliaferro has also jumped in the race. Shreveport Council Chairman James Flurry says he's "90% sure" he will join the race.
Several other possible candidates have been mentioned. Here's is our latest poll.
Taliaferro ran in 2018 but finished 3rd with 20% of the vote. Adrian Perkins got 29% to 24% to former Mayor Ollie Tyler putting those two in the runoff. Perkins ended up winning that race with 64% of the vote.
KEEL News has learned several possible contenders have set up exploratory committees and are beginning the process of fundraising. But so far, only Perkins and Taliaferro have officially announced.
