More Help for Domestic Violence Victims
Domestic violence victims across the region get some much needed help from a month long campaign to collect supplies.
Caddo District Attorney James Stewart has wrapped up the Purple Box Campaign as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office wrapped up its Purple Box Campaign Wednesday, November 18, 2020, weeks after it began in October as part of observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
D.A. personnel collected hundreds of items for local domestic violence survivors, including hygiene products, pajamas, household essentials and gift cards. The office delivered the collected goods to Project Celebration, the advocacy organization that assists domestic violence victims with safety planning, protective orders, shelter and transportation.
Stewart wanted to be proactive in finding help for victims on several fronts.
“Our goal is to keep survivors and their families safe," he said. "We can’t just tell victims to leave abusive situations. We have to give victims the support they need to survive once they have left. Our Purple Box Campaign is our way of helping victims start a new chapter.”
The collection was helped by community partners Dudley DeBosier Injury Lawyers and Washington & Wells Law Firm.
