Where Can You Spot Gators in Shreveport-Bossier?
SHREVEPORT, LA - This is so ironic to see the news about alligators this week. I put a quick message on my Facebook Page a few days ago. I was asked by someone from out of state where they could go to see an alligator.

So I asked the question on social media. I got dozens of suggestions. Some were funny and many others were very genuine and helpful. I like them all. It was fun to follow such a silly topic. Didn't know it would generate such response.
But then something happens in Bossier to remind us we do have gators around us way more than the folks in many other states. A monster sized gator wandered into traffic on Benton Road this week and is apparently hit by a car. The photos went crazy viral.

It reminded me of some afternoons when my sons were little tykes. We lived on the north side of Cross Lake and every now and then when we would get home from school, there would be a gator sunning himself on the bank of the lake. One day, my boys thought it "would be fun" to run over and "play with him". I had to holler at them to stop. It was frightening. But I was not the only one frightened. That poor gator was apparently scared to death. He scurried back into the water after hearing all the commotion from my boys.
Are Gators Scared of Humans?
Gators typically don't want to be bothered by humans. They normally will just keep to themselves. I witnesses this first hand. Our Cross Lake gator wanted nothing to do with "playing with my boys". He bailed outta there as fast as he could go.
But if you want to see a gator up close, you can find them at a few spots in our area. Some of these spots have live gators and others have the preserved kind.
