Everything to Know About Caddo Parish Sports Complex Bond

In just a few months, residents of Caddo Parish will be asked to support a bond issue to build a multi-sports complex to attract regional sporting events to our area.

Some residents are already lining up to oppose this measure while others think it's a great idea which will bring in revenue.

When Is the Election on the Proposed Caddo Parish Sports Complex?

The $60 million dollar bond issue will be on the November 3 ballot. The complex will cost about $70 million. The additional $10 million is expected to come from private investors and other sources.

Caddo Parish Has Shared This Information About the Proposed Bond Issue:

The approval of these bonds are
NOT new taxes or an increase of
taxes for Caddo Parish citizens.

Caddo Parish Leaders Will Hold Community Meetings in September

These community meetings will give residents a chance to learn more about the complex including economic projections and possible sites.

The three public presentations are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, Sept. 8: LSU Shreveport – Red River Room (One University Place, Shreveport, LA 71115)
Wednesday, Sept. 9: Government Plaza Chambers (505 Travis Street, Shreveport, LA 71101)
Thursday, Sept. 10: Greenwood Acres Family Life Center (7530 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, LA 71119)

Each of these meetings will begin at 5:30pm.

Parish leaders say this proposed sports complex will be able to accommodate youth sports tournaments, athletic events, and community gatherings. Advocates say this will help driver regional tourism, generate local revenue, and improve our local recreation infrastructure.

These public forums will give folks a chance to review venue specifications, total capital costs, and the precise wording of the proposition ahead of election day.
