Shreveport Police Arrest Two Women in Home Burglary Investigation
Shreveport Police have arrested two women following an investigation into a residential burglary reported earlier this month.
The victim reported that in early August, she returned home from work and found that several personal belongings had been removed from her residence. The missing property included clothing, jewelry, perfume, toiletries, household items, and other belongings valued at more than $1,300.
SPD Investigators identified Bridgette Ellis and Etane Thomas as suspects in the case. Both were arrested for felony theft.
Detectives learned that a man who also lived at the burglarized home and is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges had given Thomas permission to enter the home and remove his property only. Investigators determined that property belonging to the victim was also taken from the residence.
After being told that the victim's belongings had been taken, attempts were made to have the property returned.
Earlier this week, SPD Detectives contacted Ellis and Thomas and were taken to a storage unit where all of the victim's reported property was recovered.
Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Shreveport City Jail.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department reminds residents that permission to remove one person's property from a residence does not authorize anyone to take belongings belonging to someone else."
