Domestic Violence Suspect Fights Shreveport Police During Arrest

Last week, Shreveport Police officers began investigating a domestic violence incident on Raspberry Lane.

Investigators learned that Jamarion Armer allegedly assaulted the mother of his child, punching her multiple times. During the incident, Armer is also accused of picking up their one year-old child and throwing the child across the room onto a couch. Armer left the location before SPD Officers could get to the scene.

The victim contacted Shreveport Police again after Armer returned to the home. When Officers got there, no one answered the door. During the ongoing 911 call, a dispatcher heard what appeared to be a physical struggle before the call suddenly ended, leading officers to believe the victim could be in immediate danger.

Officers got in to the home and attempted to take Armer into custody. Armer allegedly resisted officers, attempted to reach the victim, and attempted to grab an officer’s Taser during the struggle. Officers deployed a Taser and used physical force in an effort to gain control of Armer. He then broke away from Officers and ran from the home before running back toward the apartment.

Officers found Armer behind the apartment and, despite him still fighting with Police, were able to take him into custody. The Shreveport Fire Department was immediately called-in to evaluate him following the arrest.

Armer faces several charges, including resisting an Officer with force or violence, disarming of a Peace Officer, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, simple escape, and resisting an Officer.

"Any situation in which a person attempts to disarm a police officer has the potential to become deadly in seconds. Despite the violent resistance encountered during this arrest, our officers maintained control, showed restraint, and successfully brought a dangerous situation to an end without further injury."
