A domestic violence case has police in Shreveport and Bossier filing charges against suspect Michael Harkey.

Shreveport police received a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for an SUV being driven by Harkey after a caller alerted them that they saw a man hitting a woman inside the car. Police went to the location, but the vehicle were gone. They didn't have to look far to find the couple, however.

Harkey's SUV ran out of gas on Interstate 20 at Monkhouse Drive, which is where police found and arrested him Harkey was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery by Shreveport police. Similar charges are expected from Bossier City police.

Police on the scene made sure to take pictures of Harkey's hands. Corporal Meosha Moses told KMSS-TV why.

"We saw blood on his hands, on his fists," said Moses. "These are marks from where he's actually assaulted her."

The victim, Paula Marie Harkey, suffered several injuries including a broken jaw. She said her husband had been beating her while driving west on the interstate.
