State Rep. Cedric Glover talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his soon-to-be-introduced HB 885, which would "bring parity in funding to north Louisiana's safety net hospitals."

Glover's bill, the Safety Net Hospital Preservation Act, will be introduced Tuesday morning before the House Appropriations Committee. Glover tells KEEL listeners that the goal of the bill is "to try and do what I and others from north Louisiana...have tried to do over the years, and that is to ensure that we, in this particular area, are getting our fair share of resources in general and, in particular, when it comes to the operation of our safety net hospitals."

Glover has repeatedly pointed out that studies show that those hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe get about thirty two cents on the dollar compared to the New Orleans facility. In addition, his bill calls for a legislative audit of Louisiana's safety net hospitals and, if the numbers are borne out, then his bill "would ensure that those payments are equalized."
