Shreveport Police Arrest Two Felons for Gun and Drug Possession
Shreveport Police Officers continue their proactive efforts to keep firearms out of the hands of convicted felons in this city.
On Sunday, officers conducted a traffic stop near Broadway Avenue and Illinois Avenue. During the stop, SPD Officers detected the odor of suspected narcotics and discovered that both occupants, Anthony Davis and Rodney Garner, were both armed with guns.
Further investigation showed that both men are convicted felons and are prohibited from possessing firearms of any kind.
Davis was also found to have warrants stemming from an early 2026 incident for home invasion and domestic abuse battery. He has a prior domestic abuse battery conviction and was also reportedly out on bond in connection with another domestic abuse case in Bossier Parish.

Garner was also confirmed to be a convicted felon based on a prior unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling case.

Both firearms were taken by SPD, and Davis and Garner were arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Davis was additionally arrested for possession of narcotics and his outstanding warrants.
From SPD:
"This is another outstanding example of proactive police work by our patrol officers. Two convicted felons, two firearms, and suspected narcotics were taken off the street before those weapons could be used to hurt someone.
Our officers are not letting up. If you are prohibited from possessing a firearm and choose to carry one anyway, expect to go to jail."
