Kai has a younger brother, Lochlan, and an older brother, Jamie. His parents are both Scottish but Kai was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana. He enjoys reading, technology, geography and is very interested in politics. At school, he is a member of the student council and also in the French and Gifted program. Kai was born with albinism, a rare genetic condition which is characterized by the absence of pigment in the hair, skin and eyes. He is also visually impaired, which is a disadvantage of having albinism, although this certainly does not affect his drive and determination. One benefit, however, is that his distinctive white hair makes it easy to spot him in a crowd!
