Shreveport Woman Arrested for Alleged Simple Assault and Property Damage

Another domestic incident has ended with an arrest after Shreveport Police say an argument escalated into thousands of dollars in property damage.

Yesterday, Shreveport Police Officers responded to Rossitter Street regarding an assault and battery complaint. As SPD arrived to the scene, they could hear tires screeching and yelling coming from the area.

Officers found 28 year-old Jerkezie Bryant, who exited a vehicle armed with a baseball bat. An SPD Officer witnessed Bryant use the bat to smash the rear windshield of a Kia Telluride before she dropped the bat and surrendered to Police.

Investigators learned the wild incident began during a dispute between Bryant and a man she had been dating. Bryant was, according to Police, being asked to leave the home when the argument escalated. Witnesses told officers Bryant threatened to stab a woman in front of several children.

Then, Police say Bryant intentionally drove a Honda Accord into a parked Nissan Pathfinder under a carport. The impact reportedly pushed the Pathfinder into the house, causing additional damage.

As SPD arrived, Bryant allegedly smashed the Telluride's rear windshield with the baseball bat in full view of the responding Officer.

Bryant was arrested and charged with:

· Simple Criminal Damage to Property

· Simple Assault

· Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property

"Domestic disputes can escalate quickly, and this incident is another example of how an argument can turn into threats, damaged property, and a trip to jail.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported."
