Shreveport Woman Arrested for Gun Crimes After Stand-Off
Earlier this week, Shreveport Police got a call about an armed person on Dowdell Street. The call escalated in to a dangerous situation.
The man who called stated that a woman kicked in the front door of his house. While the woman was kicking the door, the man armed himself. But once the woman got through the door she fired a shot at him, and the man fled the house and called the Police.
When SPD got to the scene, Officers located the suspect, 37 year-old Crystal Brown, in a field across from the home she broke in to. While SPD was trying to engage Brown, she kept reaching toward her waistband where Police thought the gun may be. She kept telling SPD Officers, "You're going to have to kill me today."
One Officer fired a shot that missed Brown, but Officers were able to hit her with a taser and subdue her. Brown was arrested with no further incident.
From SPD:
"Brown was transported to a local hospital for medical and mental health evaluations. She has been charged with one count of illegal use of a weapon, with additional charges pending as the investigation continues."
