Caddo Deputies Arrest Man on Suspected Drug and Gun Charges
Caddo Deputies arrested a 20 year-old man after a Deputy found a handgun and a large quantity of suspected ecstasy pills in his vehicle.
On Saturday, a Corporal with CPSO saw a blue Honda Accord driving on Roy Road. The car ran a stop sign before turning onto Shreveport-Blanchard Highway, prompting the Cpl. to initiate a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as 20 year-old Brandon Shephard, who had a 14 year-old juvenile passenger. While speaking with Shephard during the stop, the CPSO Cpl. noticed a handgun on the floorboard near his feet and smelled suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle. Both occupants were ordered out of the car and secured while Deputies waited for additional backup.
A search of the car revealed a large bag containing suspected ecstasy pills inside the center console, weighing approximately 172.1 grams.
Shephard was arrested for distribution of Schedule II controlled dangerous substances, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and a violation of firearm trigger-lock laws. He was taken to Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.
The 14-year-old was released to his mother. The investigation is ongoing.
