Shreveport, Bossier City Casino $$$: Up or Down from a Year Ago?

The latest numbers for casinos Shreveport and Bossier City - and gaming spots across Louisiana - are out, and once again the figures for the local boats aren't encouraging. According to the state gaming commission, innings at Louisiana’s state regulated casinos were down 1.6% in March compared to the year before.

The primary reason is the drop in business at casinos Shreveport and Bossier City and Lake Charles. The 13 riverboat casinos, four racinos and Harrah’s land based casino brought in a total $221.5 million during the month, compared to $225.1 million in March of last year.

Casinos in New Orleans and Baton Rouge showed increases, however, with six of eight showing improvements.

The Shreveport and Bossier City boats showed an overall drop 9.9%, with none of the area's six showing gains. Margaritaville fell from $19.7 million in March of '21 to $18.8 this year (-4.5%). Boomtown went from $5.9 to $5.4 (-7.7%). Bally's was down to $10.5 from last year's $11.1 (-5.6%). Sam's Town dropped from $6.5 to $4 (-38.1%). And Horseshoe dipped from $16.1 to $15.6 (-5.6).

Revenue leaders in Louisiana are Lake Charles' L'Auberge with $31.6 million and Golden Nugget at $29.5. Rounding out the state's top five are Harrah's in New Orleans ($22.8), L'Auberge in Baton Rouge ($18.9) and Bossier City's Margaritaville ($18.8).
