Top 20 Road Trip Destinations Just a Short Drive from Shreveport
Sometime you just need a little getaway. It helps to rejuvenate and relax you. If I want to get out of Shreveport for a bit, I love to go to Durant, Oklahoma (to play poker) or Hot Springs, Arkansas. But I love finding new spots to check out. for a quick little trip to just chill.
A few years ago, I had a great time "glamping" in Jefferson, Texas. Nutty's Peanut Butter Store has indoor tents and a game room upstairs that you can rent out for special events. We had such a blast.

We asked on social media what are your favorite places for a short road trip getaway and we got hundreds of answers. You can see our top 20 list below ranked in descending order. But several places got only one of two mentions. Memphis was on that list. My only trips to Memphis have been for soccer tournaments. I've never really explored the city. That's one that will be on my list.

Another spot was mentioned a couple of times. It was the Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. It's about an hour northwest of Little Rock and will put you near the Ozark Mountains and the park has great cabins you can rent.
Grapevine, Texas was also another spot recommended. I have done the vintage railroad ride in Grapevine and that is definitely worth the trip. It takes you back in time and is very relaxing.

Another spot folks recommend is Uncertain, Texas. I'm a big fan of this unique community. It's on the bank of Caddo Lake and is famous for a floating Christmas Parade during the holidays. That event should definitely be on your holiday bucket list. I've never visited Uncertain any other time of the year, but folks tell me it's a great place to go to explore nature on the water.
Enoch's Winery in Harleton is another favorite spot on my list. I've checked this place out a couple of times on girls trips and this is an amazing spot. They often have live music and special events. The wine is really great. Try the flight of wine which includes several different varieties. Enoch's also offers great food for your event.
Grand Isle in far south Louisiana is also a favorite spot for some folks. But that's a good 6-7 hour drive. If I'm driving that far, I'm going to the beaches in Gulf Shores or Destin. The sand and the water is much prettier a bit to our east.
Another spot you should check out is Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. It's known as the "Crawfish Capital of the World". The crawfish festival is scheduled for April 30 – May 2, 2027 and it's a very cool event.
