Fall Arrives Tuesday Night, Bringing Normal Temperatures and Much Needed Rain To Louisiana
These hot and steamy days are getting a bit annoying for me. On very humid days, it's very unpleasant to get out of a nice cool car and as soon as the air hits you, your glasses fog up. But that's Louisiana. Fall will be here soon.
In fact this week we usher in fall. But will it start to feel like fall? The experts say don't count on any kind of serious cool down for a little while. LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim says fall officially arrives in Louisiana on Tuesday night. But he says the long-range forecast calls for normal temperatures during the fall, but wetter than normal because of El Nino conditions.
But the rain is very good news for many parts of Louisiana because we have been experiencing drought conditions across much of the region. Our rainfall totals for the year are also way down. These dry conditions have forced many parishes to issue burn bans because of the fear of outdoor fires.

When Can We Expect Some Relief from this Heat?
Weather experts say our best chance for a little bit of a cooldown is between Sept. 23–25. Our highs should be in the low 90's and the overnight temps might actually dip into the upper 60's. For a full blown fall effect, we probably will have to wait at least one more week. Once we get close to October, we should begin to feel a little relief from the summer heat.
What Will the October Weather Be Like in Shreveport?
If you love a little bit of cooling, get ready for some amazing days. Weather experts say our high temps in October will struggle to get into the 80's and we could see overnight lows in the upper 50's! So we do have some relief on the way.
