This morning after my Kiss Country 93.7 interview with longtime friend and former Bossier City bar owner, Bud Christian, I somewhat blindsided myself with a quandary.

Let me explain. Music executives all over America are touting that country music is now more popular than ever.

In an article from berklee.edu, we read "Country music is having a moment. Country artists regularly top the Billboard Top 100 chart, which tracks the most popular songs in the US. The genre is the fastest growing in America, and 2023 was its best year ever!"

Considering the obvious popularity of country music, why is there such a lack of local Shreveport/Bossier places to go listen to America's favorite country and enjoy some country dancing?

Holy Cow! That one hit me like a ton of bricks. I guess it was the reality and validity of the question.

This was something that would have never occurred to country music fans twenty years ago. I mean, Bud Christian and his wife Carol owned a couple of the hottest country bars around, and back in their day, that was saying something because of the sheer number of country bars in the area.

In fact, I can remember when there were people who wondered if there was any nightclub open in the area that wasn't country.

Dialing the clock back to anywhere from 1986 to 1995, there really was a country bar on nearly every corner.

While a lot of these places might have already disappeared by the time you were born, those who might be getting a little long in the tooth will remember a lot of these and enjoy that long gone stroll across the memory dance floor.

Course, a couple of these places are still crowd favorites and thank the Lord they are still here!
