Dr. Belinda Roberson, Executive Director of Shreveport's YWCA, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the Y's LEAD program and a newly found source of funding.

LEAD, which stands for lead, empowerment and development, is a program targeting at-risk teen girls. "We go into the schools," says Roberson, "We teach leadership, self respect, self control, self efficacy, we teach them about advocacy, bullying, human trafficking prevention and skills to help them build resilience."

Roberson explains how the YMCA will receive a grant from NFL legend Peyton Manning's Payback Foundation. "It was founded by Peyton and his wife back in 1999," says Roberson. The foundation has, to date, given more than $14 million in grants to a variety of organizations "that help organizations that help at risk youth."

Hear Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty weekday mornings from 6 til 9 on 101.7 / 710 KEEL, or by downloading the free KEEL app. presented by Office Furniture Source.
