Shreveport Man Arrested for Allegedly Choking and Head-Butting Woman

Over the weekend, Shreveport Police officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 700 block of Dodd Street.

Officers learned from the victim that Randell Rotharmel allegedly forced his way into a bedroom during an argument, grabbed a woman by the neck, forced her to the floor, and repeatedly head-butted her.

A witness reported hearing the woman scream that she could not breathe and intervened to pull Rotharmel off her.

Officers saw visible injuries to the woman’s forehead and redness around her neck consistent with her account of the choking. Two children were inside the home in a separate room during the incident.

Rotharmel was arrested and transported to the Shreveport City Jail on charges of domestic abuse by strangulation and two counts of domestic abuse child endangerment.
