Shreveport Woman Arrested for Second-Degree Murder After Fatal Stabbing

Shreveport Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a reported stabbing at a home on Corbitt Street earlier this month.

When Officers got to the scene, they found Stemond Scott suffering from a stab wound to his upper body. The Shreveport Fire Department took Scott to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

SPD's Violent Crimes Unit and Domestic Violence Unit responded, along with Crime Scene Investigators. Detectives determined that Scott had been involved in an argument with his girlfriend, 40 year-old Gabrielle Mitchell. The argument reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Mitchell stabbed Scott.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the home, and Crime Scene Investigators collected multiple items of evidentiary value.

Mitchell was later found and interviewed by SPD Detectives. Following the investigation, she was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. She was transported to the Shreveport City Jail for booking.

Mitchell was also previously arrested in 2024 for domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon and later pleaded guilty to domestic abuse battery.
