Things are tough for our pocketbook these days and many folks are cutting out luxury purchases. One item we are trimming as a way to save cost is that specialty coffee. As a result, Starbucks has closed more than 200 locations across the nation. Will any Louisiana locations be shutting down?

Starbucks Announces Belt Tightening

Starbucks execs say their business continues to evolve.

Chief Operating Officer Mike Grams revealed that the chain will close 250 stores across North America this week. The news was reported by several outlets including the AP.

Starbucks operates more than 18,000 locations across the U.S. But this time last year, the coffee giant shut down more than 600 stores in North America, but they've had 60 net openings year-to-date.

Which Starbucks Locations Are Closing?

Starbucks has started letting employees know which locations will close.

"We’re making this decision for a simple reason: we want every Starbucks coffeehouse to be a place customers love and partners are proud to work," the company's chief operating officer, Mike Gram, announced today.

He adds:

The locations targeted either aren't delivering acceptable financial results or can't provide the kind of experience that Starbucks wants for customers and employees,

Starbucks Is Working to Continue to Grow

Starbucks leaders say they are committed to more growth in the future and the overall goal is to make the stores “cozier and more inviting.”

We don't yet know the exact number of employees who will be affected by these closings.
