Buc-ee's Hiring 350 Workers In Ruston with $18 To $20 Wages

Construction on the Buc-ee's in Ruston is moving along. Mayor Ronny Walker says the crews are making great progress in building the massive retail travel center. The mayor says it is still on track to open in April or May of 2027.

Walker says work on the inside of the complex is coming along. "There has been a lot of construction and the parking lot is now fully paved."

When Will Buc-ee's Start Hiring for the Ruston Location

Buc-ee's will be hiring as many as 350 workers for the complex. Walker says the company likes to begin the hiring process about 6 months before opening, so that means hiring should kick off next month. Walker says Buc-ee's will begin accepting applications in the next few weeks and then a big event will be scheduled at the Civic Center. Walker says Buc-ee's will use that event to do interviews and start hiring team members.

What Does Buc-ee's Offer to Workers

Buc-ee's will be offering an hourly rate between $18 and $20 dollars an hour. But Walker says that's not the best part. He says Buc-ee's also offers a 401 plan with a match, health insurance and paid vacation time. He says these jobs will be very attractive to folks all across the region.

How Will Ruston Benefit from the New Buc-ee's

The sales tax generated by Buc-ee's is expected to give the town of Ruston another huge bump in sales tax revenues. Walker says town leaders aggressively pursued Buc-ee's several years ago and he is thrilled they were able to make a deal.

Buc-ee's is huge for Ruston and will be a game changer for the economy of Ruston.

Walker says when Buc-ee's looked at the Ruston proposal, the traffic numbers were actually higher than the traffic count in Terrell, Texas where the next closest Buc-ee's is located.

Walker says it took two years to talk to the folks at Buc-ee's but they kept trying and it worked out.

The Ruston Buc-ee's will be the first in Louisiana, but the company is also building a Buc-ee's in the Lafayette area too. It is expected to open in 2028.
