UPDATE: Boil Advisory in Shreveport Is Lifted
UPDATE: Boil advisory has been lifted.
The hot, dry conditions is taking a toll on Shreveport's aging water infrastructure. For the past several weeks we have not had any measurable rain across the region. This causes the ground to crack when it is so dry and that causes the pipes underneath to crash.
Shreveport Interim Water and Sewer Director Brandon Snead tells KEEL News there were multiple water line breaks in south Shreveport. This has prompted the city to issue a precautionary boil advisory because of these problems.
The precautionary boil advisory includes customers in the following areas:
• 400–500 blocks of Lynbrook Boulevard
• 500 block of Sally Ann Drive
• 8700 block of Janet Circle
• 400–600 blocks of Janet Lane
• 8700 block of Lelia Drive
• 8800–8900 blocks of Melanie Lane
• 8800–8900 blocks of Paulette Lane
• 500–600 blocks of Sugarleaf Trail
• 600 block of Dorinda Lane
• 8600–8900 blocks of Coyth Lane
• 8800 block of Potomac Drive
• 8900–9300 blocks of Linwood Avenue
• Brushy Bayou Subdivision
• 400 block of Kennie Road
• 400 block of Wynnewood Road
• 400 block of Gravois Drive
• 400–500 blocks of McCarey Street
• 9100 block of Sunny Oak Drive
• 400 block of Watts Road
The repairs have been made and there is not a water pressure issue in the area. But the boil advisory will be in effect until water samples are tested to make sure it meets all applicable safety standards.
There has also been a water main break in the South Highland area, but that break did not require a boil advisory.
Snead says “we understand the inconvenience a boil advisory can cause, but protecting the public and the integrity of our water system remains our priority. Multiple line breaks affected pressure well beyond the immediate locations of those breaks. Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with our established procedures, we are issuing this advisory."
