Shreveport Police Investigating a Fatal Hit-and-Run
Shreveport Police are actively investigating a tragic incident that happened last week on Laurel Street.
When SPD got to the scene, they found the body of an elderly woman. Evidence suggested that the woman had been walking west on Laurel Street when a car travelling in the same direction hit her, and didn't stop.
The woman was found in a nearby vacant lot with visible injuries and signs of trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Caddo Coroner came to take the body.
Investigators are calling this a fatal hit-and-run, and are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding this case.
From SPD:
“This is a heartbreaking and senseless tragedy,” said Chief Wayne Smith. “We need the community’s help to bring answers and accountability.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or submit tips anonymously through Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
