Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Sexual Assault of a Juvenile

Shreveport Police have arrested a man following an investigation into the reported sexual assault of a 13 year-old juvenile.

Earlier this week, Shreveport Police Sex Crimes Detectives responded  to a report of a sexual assault involving a juvenile. During the investigation, the victim told SPD that she had been sexually assaulted earlier that day by an adult male.

The suspect, 24 year-old Jaravon Beverly, was detained after family members pursued him until SPD Officers got to the scene.

Additional evidence linked Beverly to the incident. Video obtained through the Shreveport Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center placed Beverly in the area and showed him following the victim prior to the reported assault. Investigators also found Beverly’s phone number in the victim’s cellphone.

Beverly was interviewed by detectives before being arrested and taken to the Shreveport City Jail without incident. He was booked on one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed as Detectives continue reviewing evidence.
