For the first time in a while, the City of Shreveport will be lighting up the Texas Street Bridge. To kick off the big lighting event on Tuesday February 22nd, the City will be holding the Bakowski Bridge of Lights Celebration. There will be arts, crafts, music...basically, it's like a big party to celebrate the bridge lighting. However, due to the big celebration, there will be some road closures during the day.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith announced several closings around the area. The Texas Street Bridge itself will be closed in both directions from 9 am - 9 pm on Tuesday. In addition to the Bridge, the following streets will be closed starting at 2 pm on Tuesday: Commerce Street @ Milam, Crocket Street @ Spring and Clyde Fant from Milam to Lake Street.

You can get all the details on all the areas that will be closed tomorrow below:

However, aside from a few traffic inconveniences, the Bridge Lighting is going to be a day long festival with tons to do and see. There's light shows, fireworks, live entertainment, food trucks, an arts market, wedding ceremonies and a whole lot more.

The giant get together starts at 5:30 at Riverview Ampitheather. So, if you're looking for something fun to do with the family, you can't go wrong with the Bakowski Bridge Lighting (You can find more details on what all is happening on the Shreveport Regional Art Council Facebook page). Just don't try to drive down the wrong roadway.
