United States Senator John Kennedy talks about American schools reopening on schedule and whether, in some parts of the country, the issue has been politicized.

Kennedy commented - and expounded - on remarks he'd made earlier in the week saying that those who are using schools and students as political pawns can, "kiss my ass."

Kennedy was appearing on Fox News when he said, "America's going through a rough patch right now. Some people seem to be enjoying it. Maybe they just hate America. Maybe they just enjoy watching the world burn."

The Senator added that those same people are trying to, not only create chaos, but maintain it, because they think it gives them a political advantage. "There are some people who want to keep our schools closed, Kennedy told viewers, "They are using our kids as political pawns. To them I say, unashamedly, that they can kiss my ass."

"If you talk to most educators who are objective about this issue," told KEEL listeners, "That based on the science of education and the science of health that keeping our schools closed will injure our kids far more than the Coronavirus"

Kennedy emphasizes that he understands and appreciates the health concerns of parents and teachers, saying, "If parents don't want to send their kids back to school, they shouldn't. If teachers don't want to go back, I understand that. I do think we'll have to make special accommodations for (some) teachers and staff. But I think the issue has been politicized. I think there are politicians in Washington and elsewhere who are not acting in good faith because they think this can have an effect on the November election."
