DHS Secretary Noem Reviews Super Bowl Security in NOLA
NEW ORLEANS, LA- Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem Visits New Orleans to Review Security Measures
In the wake of the New Year's Day terrorist attack in the French Quarter of New Orleans, all eyes are on the Big Easy as the city gets ready to host the largest sporting event in America, the NFL Super Bowl, this Sunday.

In the early morning hours of New Year's Day, former Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove his pickup truck at a high rate of speed down Bourbon Street, killing 14 people and injuring dozens of others.
What Happened to Security Measures in New Orleans on New Year's Eve?
The attack highlighted the dangerous lack of security measures in the French Quarter, including the absence of the safety bollards that were supposed to be in place to barricade traffic from traveling down the crowded Bourbon Street.
City officials said the bollards were being replaced in preparation for the Super Bowl. The project began in November of 2024, and scheduled to be completed in "early 2025." The bollards are heavy, stainless steel removable posts that are placed behind each crosswalk and can be locked into place.
The city had placed a New Orleans police car in the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Street, but the terror suspect drove up onto the sidewalk, bypassing the police car very easily.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Visits with State and New Orleans Officials
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, as well as New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, as well as police officials to express her concern for the safety of the thousands of visitors expected this week in New Orleans for the Super Bowl.
After paying tribute to the terrorist attack victims with a moment of silence, Secretary Noem was assured that additional safety measures have been put into place this week ahead of the Super Bowl, including checkpoints at all entry points, and a strict bag policy enforcement for all who enter the security zone.
