LeVette Fuller on $7 Garbage Fee: Right Now, I Vote No or To Delay [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Councilwoman LeVette Fuller talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about Tuesday's meeting and the latest debate and discussion of the proposed garbage fee.
Fuller tells KEEL listeners that there hasn't been any plan from the Mayor Adrian Perkins detailing what the city would do with money from the general fund replaced with a monthly fee. "We can place stipulations (on those savings) because we're supposed to be stewards of the money. The executive branch devises the budget, but we (the council) have to confirm it."
When asked about her vote on the current $7 monthly fee proposed by Councilman James Green, the first term councilwoman said, "I either vote no or to delay, because I need more information." Then Fuller explains her reservations: "We don't have a guarantee of an enterprise fund and the $5 million (from the $7 fee) still doesn't cover the entire cost of that department."
