LeVette Fuller: ‘It’s Expensive to Run a City and Run It Well’ [VIDEO]
Shreveport City Councilwoman LeVette Fuller talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the upcoming meetings - next Monday and Tuesday - at which the council will debate and amend Mayor Perkins proposed garbage fee.
Fuller and the city's other six council members will continue debate, and begin to amend, Perkins $18 a month fee, when they meet in work session on Monday, February 11 and their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 12.
Fuller tells KEEL listeners, while there is a contingent that says, "Yeah, we should have done this thirty years ago, there are way more people on fixed incomes, that are living paycheck to paycheck, or living off their retirement, who cannot wrap their brain around a fee of $18 a month."
Fuller adds that, though she's not sure if a vote on the measure could come as early as Tuesday, there will be a number of amendments to the bill to be considered. "At the Finance Committee meeting we looked at a few different alternatives. We looked at what it would be at $13, $14 of $15."
