Louisiana State Senator Barrow Peacock talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the latest news regarding the funding of both the I-49 Inner City Connector and a new, four lane Jimmie Davis Bridge.

Peacock tells KEEL listeners that the funding for both projects continue to move forward, with $100 million in state money in place for the 3.9 mile inner city stretch and $22 million for a new, four lane structure spanning the Red River. Both projects would be supplemented with additional money from the federal government.

Peacock corrected an earlier social media post by Allendale Strong, anti-Inner City Connector activist John Perkins that claimed the legislature was "removing funding from Jimmie Davis Bridge repair to build I-49 instead."

Perkins responded to the Peacock interview via text: "Wish the politicians and bureaucrats would officially announce the new bridge to be built in 2021. If true, that would be a huge lift for the area and the people who drive it every day and those who, for now, are avoiding the bridge."
