John Perkins, one of the leaders of Stop Cross Bayou Point, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his group's opposition to the billion-dollar-plus plan and his plans to make their position known at Tuesday's (January 28) council session.

Perkins, who has repeatedly voiced his criticisms of the proposal, tells KEEL listeners that, "It's a bad idea because...we've over-built infrastructure and spread as thin as we are, we can't afford to annex another mile of pipe underground."

The city currently is working on a consent decree agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency to rebuild it's entire sewer system at a price estimated to be in excess of a billion dollars.

Perkins also details his other objections to the massive plan, which he says he will reiterate when he speaks during public comments time at the Tuesday regular council session.
