Governor's Office Responds to Sheriff's Allegations

Allegations continue to fly with regard to the makeup of the Red River Waterway Commission. The problem seems to stem from the Governor's decision not to appoint Carolyn Prator to a vacant position on this board.

She is the wife of Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and he maintains this decision by the Governor is in retaliation for his criticism of the Governor's Criminal Justice reform efforts.

KEEL News caught up with Governor Edwards' Chief Communications Officer, Shauna Sanford to talk about these allegations. She outlines how the nomination was handled and tries to explain why Carolyn Prator was not selected.

The Governor's decision leaves Caddo Parish with only 2 members serving on the 14 member board even though Caddo Parish provides 40% of the funding for the Commission.
