State Rep. Cedric Glover talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the status his bill, HB 885, which goes to the floor of the House for a vote on Thursday.

Glover's proposal, which would mandate parity funding for Louisiana's safety net hospitals, would also call for an audit of the state's charity hospital system. In commenting on what he - and other area legislators - see as a history of unfairness in funding, Glover says, "I know that when it comes to the budget, the folks from New Orleans are delivering bacon and pork chops to their city, but Shreveport is only getting chitlins and hog head cheese."

Meanwhile, State Senator from Shreveport Greg Tarver. a longtime Glover political foe, comments on the bill, saying, "I'm in favor of doing what's right and what's fair. But his bill is not telling the complete facts. Shreveport is getting their pro rata share."
