Caddo, Bossier Voters Nix New Hotel Tax By Slim Margin
An additional 2 percent hotel occupancy tax on the ballot Tuesday was shot down by a combined vote in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
Backers of the tax say that an additional $2.2 million that would have been raised annually. Funds would have been split among three groups, the ArkLaTex Regional Air Service Alliance, The Shreveport - Bossier Sports Commission and The Duck Commander Independence Bowl.
Interestingly, Caddo voters supported the tax by a slim margin, but that edge failed to overcome the wide margin of defeat in Bossier. The final tally:49,148 against, for 48,940.
