Arrest Warrant Issued for Shreveport Man in Fake Check Scheme
Local authorities are searching for a man accused of defrauding a neighborhood business out of thousands of dollars using invalid checks. Shreveport Police detectives have officially secured an arrest warrant for Jessie Duncan on one count of Monetary Instrument Abuse.
Fraudulent Checks Left Local Business in the Red
The investigation kicked off after the management at Midway Food Mart reported a series of financial losses. According to police, Duncan presented three separate checks to be cashed at the convenience store. All three checks were later flagged and returned by the bank as completely invalid, leaving the business to absorb the financial hit.

Investigation Uncovers Defunct and Fake Accounts
As detectives dug deeper, they discovered the checks claimed to be drawn from a Regions Bank account belonging to an entirely different individual. When contacted by police, the alleged account holder stated he hadn't held an account with Regions Bank in several years, did not know Duncan, and had never authorized anyone to write checks in his name.
Bank officials later confirmed the fraud, noting that the routing information printed on the checks was entirely fabricated and did not match legitimate Regions Bank formats.
Broken Promises of Repayment Lead to Charges
The owner of Midway Food Mart positively identified Duncan as the man who cashed the checks. Documentation provided to investigators showed that Duncan had repeatedly promised to reimburse the store for the lost funds.

During a voluntary interview with detectives, Duncan claimed he received the checks from a third party as payment for a job. He once again promised investigators that he would make restitution to the business. However, after multiple assurances and zero payments, detectives moved forward with criminal charges.
Authorities Ask Public for Assistance
With the arrest warrant now active, police are turning to the community for help.
