Bossier Experiencing Major Water Outage

Bossier City residents are waking up this morning to water outages affecting most of the city.  KEEL News has received several messages from listeners asking about the water outage.

"Any idea what’s wrong with water outage in bossier?"

 

"We are told that the entire city of Bossier has no water. Stockwell area has none. Do you have any info about this?"

 

Louis Johnson, with the City of Bossier City told KEEL News:

Bossier City experienced a 42 inch water main break  at Benton Road & Airline Drive, near Shed Road.  Residents in  Carriage Oaks, Stonebridge, Hickory Ridge, Tiburon, and Swan Lake, and others could experience no water, or low water pressure.  Johnson continued:  Bossier Utilities is aware of the situation, and is working feverishly to restore water service to Bossier residents as quickly as possible.

 

No determination has been made as to what caused the water main to collapse.  Johnson also said no time of restoration has yet been determined, but they are working to get the water service restored as quickly as possible.

When asked if a boil-advisory will be issued, Johnson could not confirm whether a boil-advisory will be issued at this time, but if one becomes necessary, Johnson advised residents to check the Bossier City Facebook page for updates.

KEEL News also reached out to Sonya Bailes with the Bossier Parish School board who told us no schools are closed at this time.  Bossier Parish Community College just announced they are closing today due to the water outage.
