SHREVEPORT, LA - No one was injured in an apartment fire in downtown Shreveport.

Firefighters responded to fire at Fairmont Apartments on Cotton Street just after 1pm on Thursday afternoon. There was a report of a fire in one unit of the complex.

Firefighters found smoke coming from one of the apartments. They were able to make entry and found the cause of the fire in the kitchen and quickly put it out with a fire extinguisher. This blaze created some smoke which was pulled from the apartment with fans specially designed to remove smoke from buildings.

Did Folks Have to Evacuate?

Residents were evacuated outside to a safe area while the fire department handled this emergency incident. More than nine SFD units on the scene and it required the efforts of dozens of Shreveport Firefighters to bring this fire under control in just under thirty minutes.

No one was injured as a result of this blaze which remains under investigation.
