⛈️Biggest Storm of the Year

SHREVEPORT, LA - 2024 has not been a terrible year on the weather front. We have had a few pretty big storms in north Louisiana, but for the most part, we dodged a couple of bullets.

When Was the First Big Storm of the Year?

The year started out with a bang in the form of an ice storm which roared through the region in mid January. As with all ice storms in this area, this one paralyzed our area for about a day. Later in the same month, we had a pretty big rain event.

Later in the spring, we experienced some pretty typical weather for Shreveport with strong thunderstorms and some tornadoes. There were a couple of significant events in April that caused some damage in our area.

We also had some tornado events in May. We experienced wind and tornado damage twice during the month.

In the later part of June, our area had another wind and storm event that caused some widespread damage. But the biggest weather event of the year came at an odd time.

Biggest Storm of the Year

In July, we had an outbreak of tornadoes as a result of Tropical Storm Beryl. The National Weather Service issued dozens of tornado warnings in just one day. Investigators spent a few days going out to check out all the reports of tornadoes from across the region and confirmed more than 40 touchdowns around the Ark-La-Tex.

The last major storm for the year came in September when we had heavy rains causing some flash flooding.
