Were Governor John Bel Edwards recent comments to State Senator Sharon Hewitt insulting? During a recent hearing on the state budget, Edwards told Hewitt, "I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you. The senator from Slidell talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about what led up to the Governor's remarks and whether she thinks JBE was guilty of the the poltically incorrect "man-splaining."

Hewitt tells KEEL listeners that following his remark, she told Edwards that she found his remark insulting and "as an executive in the oil and gas business, I understand the budget pretty well" and that JBE was "misleading and misrepresented the budget."

Regarding the upcoming special legislative session, Hewitt says, "Let's look at the bottom line," and that "if we replace all the revenue as he (Edwards) is asking, the budget will increase to $9.7 billion," a billion more than when he took office.
